1- Hello staff Paranoid! It is a great pleasure here is taking this opportunity to have a conversation with you. To start you could tell us about the band? How did, where, when and what the proposal of the band?
Paranoid first started out with Jocke, Emil, Åke and Nils, who recorded the Hardcore Addict-tape. Åke then dropped out of the band, and I was asked to replace him on the guitar, an offer I couldn’t refuse. Shortly after I joined, Nils tragically passed away, which was a severe blow to us. But after about a few months pause, we decided to carry on just the three of us. And that’s where we still are today.
2- What do you take with influences for your music, both politically and musically?
Musically, we’re mainly inspired by punk and metal. Particularly the hardcore/punk-scene in Japan, as you can tell by our aesthetics. There are no boundaries for where we may draw inspiration from though, we can be influenced by everything from jazz to folk music. We’re not really a political band at all.
3- Recently realized that you throw a cover every month. As calls this project? Where did this idea? And how do you choose which bands and which songs will play?
We got the idea from the band Sub Alert, who did this thing in 2010. We thought it would be a fun and stimulating project to choose all different kinds of songs and make our own versions of them. Deciding which songs to choose wasn’t easy, but after many discussions and suggestions, I think we ended up with a great and diverse set of songs.
4- You have gone through other training or this is the only formation of the band?
See question #1.
5- Are there any other bands / projects do you do?
I play in the speed/thrash metal band Hypertension and the heavy metal band Deathman. Jocke always has millions of projects going on, too many to name. Don’t think Emil is playing in any other band at the moment.
6- How does the Metal and Punk scene where you reside?
Kind of stone dead at the moment. We live in a quite small town (about 50 000 people), so there’s not really much going on. We haven’t even played here in our hometown yet, which says a lot about the interest in our music over here.
7- How many discs Paranoid already released, tell us a bit about them! And you have to forecast a new material?
We’ve done so many releases that I barely know all of them, haha. But here’s an overview:
Harcore Addict (Tape 2012, later also released as a 7″)
5 Track EP (7″ 2014, later re-released as a 12″)
Satyagraha (LP 2015)
Jawbreaking Mangel Devastation (Split w/ Absolut 12″/2×7″ 2015)
Punkdemonium Hell (7″ flexi 2015, to be re-released on 7″ later this year)
Haven’t started to rehearse any new material yet, we’ve had a break after we got home from the Finland tour in December. But the plan is to do so as soon as possible, and to write songs for a new LP.
8. Do you have any scheduled tour, plan to do a show here in Brazil?
We’re touring UK may 4th-7th and US & Canada (West Coast) June 1st-June 9th. Playing in Brazil would be cool, hopefully we can make that happen some day! No such plans at the moment though.
